A study published by The Social Science Journal shows that turning your phone to grayscale may significantly reduce your time spent on social media. It is assumed that this is due to the understimulation (with a lack of colors) which produces less dopamine and subsequently makes you less hooked on staying on the app.
On iPhones
- Open the Settings app, then tap Accessibility
- Under the “Vision” header, tap Display & Text Size
- Find the Color Filters option, tap the toggle to turn it on, and select Grayscale
On Android phones
- Open the Settings app, then tap Accessibility
- Under the “Display” header, tap Text and Display
- Tap Color correction and select Grayscale
