I’ve gone to wax based chain lube for a ton of stuff.

Doesn’t attract or hold dust/dirt, good on a variety of surfaces and applies in all kinds of temperatures.

Would definitely NOT use white lithium grease as it is too thick and can cause the pins to get hung up.

Lubricating locks is good, but you need something lighter that won't attract dust. Generally best is Teflon, Graphite, or even silicone based Lubricants.

DON’T USE GREASE! It will make a mess every time you put the key in. Plus grease + lock mechanisms = bad. It can cause a pin to hang up from suction and you are done. The lock won’t turn. Remember the pins go up AND down as you insert the lock.

I buy a THIN teflon based lubricant from my locksmith called Tri-flo. This is what the ‘professionals’ use.
