Useful how? What is the benefit? You're telling me to do something and the its useful but not explaining why I should do it and why its useful.

Its like if I said "Always tie your left shoe first. Trust me, I do it and it works for me"

Nah; statistically self-checkout lines take longer- they're PERCEIVED to feel shorter because you're active rather than waiting.

hmmm I dunno....I have experienced both in this situation and always have that instant regret feeling when I say buh bye to self checkout and walk to regular....

In my experience, Costco checkout is so fast it doesn't matter.

Queue theory has it that you should never change the from the line you're already in, which, on average, works out. However, I always like to go to a checkout with an actual person. Continued use of self checkouts will eventually lead to shops with no staff at all. This means more unemployed people, and companies making even larger profit margins that they do not really need.
