I had a lady hand me her phone once to try and get something to work for her. Her boyfriend sent her a text as I was going through it. It was something along the lines of ‘I want you to suck my *%#^ later’. I blushed and handed the phone back saying she got a message. She saw the message and promptly left the store.

DND does not always prevent messages from being displayed, it generally turns off notifications. Maybe also stop having pervy conversations or keep the phone in your control.

I guess I’m coming from an iPhone perspective, in which case banners are blocked.

Or you’re discussing surprises, or just want to maintain privacy.

Could also be an option, idk, can't say I've looked too deep, that's just what my phone does on default. It was like that when I had an iPhone too, but to be fair, it's been like 6 or 7 years since I've had one

I'm on android. I can set it to block whatever I want. I keep everything by my alarm clock app blocked when I use it :) Banner free.
