You're not wrong. What I've attempted for the last few years, is learning to love the suffering. Mixed results, though more good than bad at this point.

The rules change, personally.

Things quit becoming about joy and meaning, and just become about survival.

Making it to the next day is the “win”.

As a side note, in case there's anyone reading this thinking that therapy is out of reach because of price/lack of health insurance, I highly encourage you to call local counseling centers and colleges to ask if they do sliding scale payments. They often allow you to set your own price. I was comfortable with $25 a session, but am aware I could have paid less.
