When you find yourself buying/renting a new place with another person such as a significant other, create a new email account for that location then have it forwarded to your individual unique email accounts. Use the new email account when setting up your utilities and bills unique to the house.

This way you can both receive electronic bills, emails, and can easily reset passwords without waiting for the other. 2FA is the only potential speed bump to be concerned with here.

Why not just setup the autoforward for just the things you need instead of an account that forwards everything? You'll end up with a fraction of the spam/junk mail and you don't have to worry about 2 factor authentication.

I did something similar with my boyfriend. So one has half the stuff so we both have rules in our emails to forward utilities bills to the other so we're both aware.

Funny story: I received the internet bill, it would go out of my bank account automatically and then he would pay me half. It was always his account paying and he still payed me half. FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR XD the profit I had

If it's available, buy the domain for your street, and use your address as the email address...

1234@MyStreet.com

You can sell the other addresses to neighbors.

To +1 this, small business accounting software will often make it hard for us to log more than one email address for an account (or we can log it, but the system will only ever send to one).

If you can do this and set up forwarding, all parties will be able to receive the invoice and any discussions relating to financials.

This may not seem like a big deal to some but we deal with a lot of couples who are trying to keep the burden of managing the household equal. It’s hard to do so when only one person is receiving invoices! It causes issues sometimes with discussion (we keep people in the loop but rely on them to tell other members of the household) and as the external party there isn’t a lot we can do.

(To clarify further, we do include as many emails as requested when sending actual emails, but anything which goes through our accounting software can only go through a single email address. We try to mitigate issues as much as possible.)

This is pretty good LPT mainly because of the fact that some people have issues using the “reply all” button rather than just the “reply” one.

We use our house email address for all of the stuff house related. Amazon, our power company, the phone company, internet provider, etc all already know where we live. Think about how much junk mail you get... your home address is not private. In fact, if you own the home it's public record.

Literally just about to do this. All the bills and house stuff is going to the new one. The administrative load for a whole house is way too big!!

Really the best way to do this is with a distribution group.

Good place to send across all receipts for house purchase too, furniture, appliances etc. Photos of paper recipts and confirmation emails so you have it all readily available if you need it
