Your address then goes on the 'not at home' list and we make a special effort to reach you..

This is also true. Their rotation usually takes months to come full circle. Sometimes longer if they have a small presence in the area.

Who lies? You just don't answer, or do, and say you're not interested. I wouldn't be adding my name to a register of theirs. Seems overkill to avoid a chap on the door from a religious zealot.

There was another LPT advising to tell them you're disfellowshipped.

Shouldn't my no soliciting sign be enough?
Tekmantwo t1_itb6zz2 wrote
No. We are not soliciting anything, we offer free home Bible studies. Federal law allows us knock at your door.
Getting on the 'do not call' list works best..or a No Trespassing sign. We won't trespass.

But when someone knocks on the door of a jehovas witness temple and asks them if they have accepted the lord of darkness into their lives they get upset...

They still try and get me sometimes because they’re on the three-church row on my morning walk, but “No” always works for me.

Better Pro tip my old boss used to tell me to do:
If he knew the Mormons were coming knocking he would run out with the lawnmower and fire it up.
Two lads in nice clean suits will sidle up and one of them takes over the lawnmowing and all you have to do is nod along with the other one.
When he's almost finished tell him there is a whole other lawn around the back.
Absolute. Legend. I miss Mark, hope he is doing well
Tekmantwo t1_itb82x2 wrote
Yeah, this is a funny urban legend. It may work on the Mormon missionaries, not so much on us Witnesses..
If I am walking up to your house and see you carrying groceries in I will offer to help.
I won't waste my time mowing your yard, I have much more important things to do...
natty1212 t1_itbdf4l wrote
See, now this is how you should be doing it instead of cold calling. You need to start like a door dash thing, but instead of paying, people agree to listen to you for a set amount of time. For example, you help me carry in the groceries from Sam's Club, and you can evangelize to me for as long as that takes!

Why does some self-righteous twit deserve my patience and/respect for bothering me in my own home?
Tekmantwo t1_itb7a5g wrote
We are offering free home Bible studies to those that have a humble heart and want to know What The Bible Really Teaches...
If that's not you, put up a No Trespassing sign.
Our time is valuable, we would rather not waste it.
TuckerCarlsonsOhface t1_itb9kng wrote
I shouldn’t need to put up any signs to expect others won’t bother me in my own home. Imagine being so far up your own ass that you preach about your valuable time while having zero respect for someone else’s.
Tekmantwo t1_itba6qf wrote
Federal law allows us to call at your door....and it also requires us to honor a 'No Trespass' sign.
None of us wants to break the law, we are commanded to obey the law..so, get a sign if you dont want to be offended by a couple of old grammas that want to talk with you for a couple of minutes....
TuckerCarlsonsOhface t1_itbb3y3 wrote
I’m sorry, do you think that since it’s technically legal to bother me at home that makes it acceptable? I hope your meals are always interrupted.

We dont ''harass' anybody. If you see our carts on a corner somewhere, and you don't want to engage, keep walking.
We dont want to be harassed either...just keep moving, you'll be ok....

Sure you know EVERY JW and how they behave, in my town they tend not to take a basic polite no as an answer. Also I'm not talking booths I'm talking the ones walking door to door preaching to people taking walks (yes I am aware they are mostly going door to door).
Tekmantwo t1_itb9uam wrote
I know what we are instructed to do and say.
Obviously I don't know every other Witness but that's not really needed.
We consider ourselves Brothers and Sisters and we have a common goal of preaching about Gods Kingdom, just like Jesus did when he was here on Earth.
I realize that some towns or cities have a different, I don't know the correct word, maybe 'culture'?
I was born in SoCal, have lived in a few different places, now I live in northern Idaho.
Each place had its own way, midwest states are pretty laid back, New York and Los Angeles are pretty busy.. I had to adapt my style to reach people that were busy and didn't have a lot of time...
Maybe where you live my Brothers and Sisters have adapted their tactics to reach more people, I dunno....
One thing I do know, for sure, they are out there, in the public eye, on their own dime and time, trying to reach the meek people, to share a life saving message...
Krylana t1_itdiex5 wrote
And this is why I practice Satanism, THEY can take no for an answer.
Nice to see that you enable not taking no for an answer too. /s

You are correct.
Back in the 70's when I started going door to door it was a lot different than how we do it now..
Get on the do not call list if you really dont want to be visited by friendly people that have your well being in mind and just want to help you..
sethonomics t1_ites31b wrote
Lol. I mean, not everyone wants to be apart of a religious group to have kind people around them. But I do appreciate them having that list now

My childhood best friend also grew up as a JW…unfortunately, he still is one :( smartest person I’ve ever personally known, but he can’t see past the cult. That hurts

I already don't lie, or come up with a story. I just politely decline to engage, and wish them a nice day. Takes maybe 30 seconds of my time, once every couple of years.
