Jen was 19, he was about 36-37 ish. She was our youngest staff member, and incredibly shy and reserved.

I'm not sure which is more confusing: that a 36 year old thought this was appropriate for a workplace environment, or that he even found it funny in the first place. Props to you for showing him the door.

It's not confusing in the slightest once you really think about it. Simply put, to people like that, women are objects, not human beings deserving of basic dignity. He frankly didn't care if it was appropriate because he lives in a culture where misogyny is the standard and he's upholding it by shaming a woman for appearing to have a normal bodily function. He isn't the exception. He's the rule.
