For too long I suffered from pop-up ads on my phone, thinking adblocker extensions were only for desktop browsers. Turns out, Firefox can I stall the same extensions as on desktop! Adblockers on mobile yipee!

On android if you adjust your private dns to dns.AdGuard.com that will also block your ads. Doesn’t work as well on apple devices.

You would actually want tls://dns.adguard-dns.com rather than just dns.adguard.com

Firefox does allow you to have more granular control

ublock is far more powerful and allows hundreds of blocklists with minimal performance impact (up to like 3M filters, 10M was slow.. logically - but you're gonna have 100k or 500k rules at most usually)

brave.. brave deals with YouTube ads and such but doesn't stop you from going on a newly created/activated domain that would execute funky JS

To clarify, just know it's not ALL extensions as on desktop, but essential ones like ublock, and script blocking. The list is limited but seems to be growing slowly. I only have uBlock and video background play fix enabled for ad free YouTube with my screen off.

This is why I use iPhone. No issues at all with pop-up ads and ransomware and all the other things that typically happens with androids. I only see a pop-up if I give permission. Apple rules!
