Whenever I've found a set of lost keys or a wallet, it makes it nearly impossible to return to the owner if it's just the drivers license and credit card, also key sets can be pretty generic. Adding a phone number to either makes it much easier to locate the owner, and possibly the only way to get keys back (you might be lucky with the wallet if the finder does some digging on social media)

Any wallet you find with a driver's license can (in the US) be dropped in any mailbox and the post office will return it.

Correct, but hopefully this gets the wallet to the owner much more quickly than getting it back days later. Worst case if I can't locate any information on the person (or they live in a gated complex/community) that's what I resort to.

LPT: the driver's license has the person's address on it.
