Goes even further than just your examples. Underpad for carpets (more important than the carpet), tires on your car, socks.

Take it from somebody older as my uncle's taught name. Don't own a lot of crap. But what you do buy make sure it's quality.

Add to that list skateboards, pogo sticks, couch cushions (for when you play "The floor is lava"), stools, slippers, ice skates, inline skates, socks, floor mats at your entrance, carpets, and palanquins.
