Just do good things to help when you can and are able to. Don't expect a reward or good things to come back to you. Do it just to be a decent human being.

Do good because it's the right thing to do not because of an expectation of reward. You are not entitled to fortune for being a giving person.

I'm not convinced it "comes back to you" in a way that you are perceiving at the time, but could come back to you in another way (the appreciation from the other person makes you feel fantastic, or you see how their life has improved and now they're helping others, etc). Do it to "pay it forward" and not necessarily to receive.
