Cockney rhyming slang:

  1. Apples and pears: stairs.
  2. Plates of meat: feet.
  3. Dog and bone: phone
  4. Bread and honey: money.

When spoken, the rhyming word is omitted. so instead of saying “bread and honey“ they would simply say “bread.” Hence the term “bread” or “dough” to mean “money.”
