Cockney rhyming slang:
- Apples and pears: stairs.
- Plates of meat: feet.
- Dog and bone: phone
- Bread and honey: money.
When spoken, the rhyming word is omitted. so instead of saying “bread and honey“ they would simply say “bread.” Hence the term “bread” or “dough” to mean “money.”
