Well actually in my country they aren't that bad, it's super rare for a cop to shoot anyone dead here and if they do, it usually for a good reason. =D

In all honesty there's quite a few officers in the US that just want to help people. Some areas not as much as others, but all the same: There's more then our liberal media likes to let on (and a lot less then our conservative media claims).

The problem is the incredibly bad training our officers go through. Combine that with the fact that we really do have an alarming number of officers that will look for any excuse to hurt you while pretending to be friendly (and some that don't bother pretending), and you can see why we Americans have such a trust issue with our law enforcement.

Yeah, it's gotten beyond ridiculous how many people have gotten killed by the police in the US, many of them completely innocent. I once saw a video of a cop shooting a drunk man who was on his hands and knees. The drunk guy tried to adjust his pants and the fucking cop shot him dead. The guy killed was also a family man. This is why I have very little respect towards cops in the US, even when I'm not living there. Many of them are so fucking trigger happy and they need only a microscopic reason to shoot you dead.
