Thanks for the feedback, it makes sense to me! I just pushed an updated to dial down the shimmer by default and make it customizable.

An option to just have randomly generated aurora would also be awesome since this requires you to interact fairly regularly to have them

That exists! It's the settings that you can get to from the button on the bottom right
