I like the idea. How do you guarantee deliverability 10 years down the line though?

futureme.org does this too. I sent myself a message in 2006 that arrived on my birthday in 2016. 2006 me wasn't very nice.

This is what I'm doing with the schedule function in Gmail.

I write myself a birthday letter every year to my future self next year and another at 5 year intervals (so I receive a bunch of them when I turn 40, 45, etc)

It's really nice to get snapshots of my life every year. Been doing it for almost a decade now.

Used to use FutureMe, but now I just schedule the email to myself through Gmail.

Hey thanks for asking ! Essentially, we rely on AWS to store the letters so deliverability pretty much depends on AWS not shutting down all of sudden in the next 10 years. We also have a daily database backup in place which I'm thinking of moving to some other service to mitigate risks. Ravilla also has a super good point, if we ever need to shutdown before that, I will make sure everyone receives their letter ahead of schedule !

Our 6th grade teacher had us write letters to ourselves that were delivered on our 21st birthdays. How she kept track of all us throughout the years was amazing.

No worries! And to be clear the intent of my comment was to share my experience, not criticism. Apologies if that's how it came across! I think it's a cool project. I'll send myself a message, time time something a bit more insightful and kinder than "ha ha you're old now".
