Yeah I saw this as well. I think it has to do with Amsterdam being more tourist-oriented, and therefore having restaurants that promote themselves as making Dutch food.

I investigating and the fruit white sapote (matasano in Spanish) actually is almost not exist in Costa Rica. Because a president prohibited in the past. It is a complete different family from the zapote, it is more close to the oranges.

the chilean entries are largely reasonable - one includes a favourite restaurant of mine. like other people are saying the emphasis is on the capital, but for a web site that covers the whole world i guess that's a fair compromise.

Fish and Chips for the UK always annoys me as it's never cooked at home and therefore shouldn't be considered our national dish. I wish that our roast dinner was more prominent in this regard as it's something most families eat every Sunday togetger. Fish and Chips is something we only get when we're being lazy and is beaten in popularity by Indian food as a take-away.

This is not representative of many countries. For example their southeast Asian guide has many misappropriation errors for the origins of the dishes and the histories behind the cuisine. It would serve as a very poor resource for anyone trying to educate themselves on the subject.

I put in Anchorage Alaska and other than cheeseburger etc that every US city has listed for them. they offered muktuk, Akutaq, and jellied moose nose. Ok yes those exist here however they are not something most people have eaten or will ever eat outside of villages/natives.
They are....unique foods. You will actually be hard pressed to find any to get. No one just sells that stuff. Especially muktuk, anything deal with whale meat and the like is pretty restricted. So unless you go up to some of the coastal bush villages and make friends you won't ever see it.
The only thing Alaska really has going for it that's "Alaskan" someone can just go but is smoked salmon. Wild game like moose and reindeer is also restricted you can't sell it. You can some farm raised reindeer though, but farm raised in not the same in the slightest.

Neat. I learned we have an endangered type of goat in my region. Other than that, there's a local cheese that I love (Västerbottensost) and one local dish called Calskrove, which is a hamburger with fries baked into a calzone... I have yet to try that because I have some decency still in me.

There's a part of Canada where they grow root vegetables and there's a part of Canada where they grow wheat. And the difference between the two in distance would be like Paris to Romania.
So anyway the only recipes for my area are ginger beef and a selection of cocktails.

It is absurd to market the dishes spread from the Ottoman Empire as Greek dishes. The site called Tasteatlas scores oils in country cuisines to give more points to many countries. Kebab-style dishes come from the east of Turkey, not from the west. It has no ties to Greece but spread to many countries by the Ottoman Empire. I can't take a site that doesn't know this seriously.
