We think it's not just one ingredient. The game must give the player pleasure, but at the same time give him a sense of completion and success. Besides, good innovations in gameplay are always welcome. There is no universal formula (or at least, we did not find it :)).
Iām hoping to get into creating games someday. My thought would be starting with board games.
What advice would you guys give to someone looking to start out in designing game mechanics?
Are there any specific resources you guys have found to be particularly informative for game mechanics design?
How much of a financial investment would you say is necessary to be successful?
How hard is to find/how do you go about finding the resources needed for production?
Wrong, it's boobs.
Obviously.
Do you follow certain storytelling techniques to give that rush and the sense of completion that you spoke about?
Also, what kinds of games sell the most?
We certainly follow a lot of factors, including storytelling.
There are no rules, you have games that keep selling for years, and the new ones that get hyped, but will last short.
What's your favourite mobile game?
We love board games - that is where you start thinking - what would make this game/mechanics better? What would be better? What would people like?
Financial, depends, how much are the expenses of production, shipping, etc.
We talk with other game developers and try to find resources locally, if not - we look abroad. Many developers find manufacturers in China.
Our games! ;)
Besides them, we play a lot of games, and everyone in the company has their own favorite genre, so it's really difficult to say.
What advice would you give to someone who is trying to change career to work in the industry, especially within something like sound design where the jobs can feel very niche?
By completion and success, did you mean pride and accomplishment?
Yes, that feeling of fulfillment.

The industry of gaming is wide and growing. As for the jobs like the one you mentioned, it is probably best to ask someone working in that niche. Some universal tips are: courses, practice, internships, finding a good company with a mentoring program, etc.
What is your opinion on the FaZe Clan?
>In a world where partisan politics infects everything, Lake Mead is only 30% filled and getting lower by the day, Covid looks to be with us for the long haul, supply chains just haven't gotten any better, Moore's law looks broken, it's all just somehow a simulation, all the crab are gone, Putin desperately wants us to believe he's winning, meat is now being made from everything that isn't meat, and balloons are now to be viewed with distrust, why should we play your games?
Why did anyone play any game in the first place?
Relaxation, reducing stress, entertainment, forgetting about worries, and the list goes on. That created a community of gamers worldwide, people are connecting, coming up with new ideas, changing the world, and making it a better place to live.

not OP but I'd recommend watching Masahiro Sakurai's youtube channel for that, he talks a lot about that, he's the director of Kirby and Smash Bros, also participating on other games aswell
Says the guy with multiple posts about the Galaxy Z Flip
Hi. I've seen quite a lot of your games on mobile storefronts and you guys definitely have a niche there. I'd like to know how much effort is needed to maintain your games and keep them functional with android, iOS updates?
Also: when designing board games, how do you consider flexibility and replayability in the long run? Do you aim for open-ended games that can be played regularly with house-rule tweaks or are you aiming for more novelty experiences?
I was always wondering how does a game go from an idea to a project? Like for example Hideo Kojima was thinking of MGS, how does Konami go like alright we'll go with your idea and spend $$ on yours vs the other guy thinking about some game that didn't have the light of day.
I understand there's a difference between an indie company vs a large corporation
We play a lot of games, and when we see something interesting or get an idea in a different way, we discuss it, whether it has sense, how much time we need to make it live, resources, etc. And a lot of testing, of course. :)
That's really interesting. Thanks for the insight.
Another question, do you get burnt out on games? Seeing as you play and it's work as well
This does not mean what you think it does.

No, we enjoy playing games, and there are so many different games, it is like a new experience with each new game that we play. :)
Well, we are always following new Android and iOS updates, and maintaining our games, requires effort, but it is important for our players and us.
As for the question about board games, we are following our ideas and see where will they take us. :)
Hello /u/BraveGiantStudio,
There is not enough proof included in the post that connects your identity to the IAmA.
Unfortunately, the links or photos you've posted could have been posted by anyone, and they don't prove that you are the person doing the AMA. Your proof needs to be something that connects the fact that you're doing an AMA with your identity. This could be something like a photo of you in a work uniform or at a relevant location with a sign that has your username and the date. It could also be documents (partially redacted if desired) with a note that has your username and the date. We're happy for you to get creative with your proof as long as it makes it clear to a reasonable person that the person doing the AMA does meet the criteria laid out in the topic of the AMA.
If you can't think of a way to prove your claims publicly, you can also submit confidential proof to the moderators at this link, though bear in mind it may take some time to review.
Here's a link to the section of our wiki that discusses proof.
Please edit your post and add new proof, and reply here to let us know. If your post is more than a couple of hours old, it may be more effective to create a new post and include the proof from the start. Thanks!
If you'd like to appeal, please click here to send a message to the moderator team.
