Awww that’s disappointing. I should try that studio. It kind of looked intense. I’ve been going to one in Wethersfield but they seem to run through the same positions and I don’t feel like I’m learning and improving the way VASU was. They had such a good way of teaching and noticing when my body needed a different variation and communicating that respectfully and encouragingly.

Totally agree, they were very special teachers! And it's so hard to find non-power, non-heated yoga in this part of CT, which made it that much better.
I have some back and shoulder issues, as well as just general stiffness and find that teachers with 500 YTT hours tend to pay more attention to students' reactions, and are wayyyyy more appreciative of modifications, cuing support with blocks, etc. I always look for that if possible when trying a new studio.
If you do try Afterglow, you might try Jane Krantz. I did some of her pre-recorded classes during the pandemic through Vasu and thought she had good flow. I just read on their site that she has restorative training, which is also super helpful for me. Report back if you go!

Thanks for the advice. It’s invaluable! Also thanks for pointing that out about the types of yoga in the area. I think I noticed it but didn’t know what to do about the discrepancy. You’re entirely right. I might see if Sarah Balkan is still teaching and I know Lisa who used to teach the early morning power class at VASU has a studio in Vernon. She was really good despite it being a power class.
