I wanna add something to that. I think when we're "finding" ourselves, we're finding the will to change and create ourselves

Sometimes life is about making another person out of stone and asking the gods to turn them into your girlfriend.

It's about both, I gather. You have to find what motivates you.

This cop was kicking me just because I was loitering which isn't fair. But then, I thought 'get motivated' and I turned my frown up upside down! He stopped kicking me eventually and I also one time I found a sandwich

I don't agree. The end goal is to find the best yourself.

I am not sure about that to be honest. There are things that you are not motivated to do or get into, yet, it is definitely good for your character and discipline building which in turn helps you build the person you want to become.

You can have more than you’ve got if you become more than you are; and unless you become more than you are, you’ll always have what you’ve got.

Invest in yourself the same way you would a company, a car, or anything else you own that you’d like to get the most out of. The solution to most of life’s problems is to simply become “more”.

I don’t agree with this one. Many people are naturally pretty cool. Lots of people create themselves and are fucking awful.

You're getting downvoted friend, but I'm with you. Speaking with the wisdom of some years now, many people spend their young adulthood trying to become someone they think they should be and that the world will accept, and spend the second half of their life trying get back to who they truly are.

ihitrockswithammers t1_j8vykf0 wrote

Some are naturally pretty awful too. Give people the space to change and become a better version of themselves.

Others play an excellent game of appearing cool until their identity feels threatened by someone and their inner awfulness reaches the surface.

The people you meet, cool or not, are not the finished product cause there's no such thing, we're always changing, and it's especially hard to consciously change old ingrained patterns.

We're all shaped by our world into who we are, some get lucky, some not. If not, you can't count on anyone to change you for the better except you.

Narfury t1_j8w4xwx wrote

I would add to that, that even if you dont know what you want, you should build discipline and good character so when you figure what you want, you are ready to fly.

And I'm just confused by it all...

Why would this all-powerful being subject these creatures he created 'in his likeness' to such hardships and suffering? His children? Would you do that to your children?

Reward the good ones with an amazing life (afterlife) and the bad ones with eternal torture and suffering?

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And like an unnecessary 'game' of sorts with nefariously wicked consequences.

Perhaps I'm just more reasonable and loving and empathetic than this God/Jesus person. I wouldn't even subject my pets to such terrible tribulations.

I think "finding" mainly involves "Self-reflection" and "introspection" which can lead to a newfound sense of purpose and motivation to take action towards creating the version of ourselves that we aspire to be.
