We’re all going to die, but that means we all got the chance to live—so we’re the lucky ones.

>Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born.
>
>The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia.
>
>Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people.
>
>In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here. We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds —Richard Dawkins

Thinking of this makes me feel like we’re in a private club—me, you, and every other person on Earth.

Everyone I see at work, at school, in traffic, at the gym, at the grocery store, on social media, etc., has made it to life by the skin of their teeth. We are all taking part in this exclusive event.

Without trying to sound corny, we really are all in this together. This is everyone's first time living.

But as special as I feel, I don’t confuse it with me being significant. I keep in mind that this gift (life) is a temporary experience. It’s a joy ride. And when it’s over, we have to go back to wherever we came from.

There have been about 100 billion humans in Earth's history, and there will be 100 billion more after us. So it’s not our world. It’s just our turn.

ehh, we are all also unlucky enough to be born and suffer here. Lucky are the ones who were never were.

That's the vibe. Would love to see life like I used to.

But people do dumb shit and especially when reason is clouded by belief, no matter if that's money, some religion or anything else. If I or my cause profit and other suffer I don't care. Great way of living, woohoo go humanity.

There are kind and awesome people but man, the thing is most of the time they don't act up like the selfish ones and are humble. So by default chaos and greed will overpower and lead us to ruin.

What ever good will come, will be torn down by those who do not know to appreciate it or abuse it for personal gain. May it be democracy, welfare or nature itself. Look at what humanty does. Those individuals made it into life and I am supposed to be happy on this beautiful rock with them when they give a damn about anyone else and anyone to come... Don't know man... I don't see myself as lucky at all...

I know I am bitter. I'd like to see things differently, but I have experienced my share of how big wheels turn and in what direction. If you could cut the word off of oxygen and sell it, someone would do it.

If there is someone who has been where I am and managed to leave the bitterness behind. Please help

nope, i am just as bitter and cynical as you are, and i despise sheer ignorance, greed, selfish behaviour of people. I am just trying to make my peace with this shitshow and enjoy what i can while being ignorant myself, and eventually i ll die.

Not gonna bring any kids just to glorify my selfish desire to live on/keep bloodline going either.

On a similar not, this quote always makes me want to cherish each day

“How we spend our days is how we spend our lives”—Annie Dillard

My life is what I decide to do today. So with that in mind, I want to make each “today” as enjoyable as possible.

Or maybe life's a curse but we're all too addicted to it to truly understand it, so we continue on this curse forever. Passing it down from generation to generation.
