It's often very hard to see your progress. If what you are doing is something you actually want, keep going and periodically examine your progress. Don't wait until you feel like giving up. Make it part of your process.
Don't just continue doing something because you've put so much effort into it... that's no bueno.

Very true. One must be wary of sunk cost or escalation of commitment.

Yeah right, just keep on climbing forever with no other goal than climbing because you already climbed so far. - Or do you just fall of at the top? Nearly there!
Another r/GetMotivated fail.
Lysol3435 t1_izv82pg wrote
This is known as the sunken cost fallacy
Superpansy t1_izvu925 wrote
This isn't always the motivation you need. Sometimes quiting is the right answer. It's called the sunk cost fallacy. Sometimes that relationship you've put years of work into is better off ending than keep trying. Sometimes you get far enough up the stairs to see the top and realize the top isn't what you were actually after. Quitting isn't losing

Sunk-cost fallacy isnโt good either, use moderation and reflect on whether you are the same person with the same goals as you were when you started. Perhaps in doing it you learnt something new and changed your perspective?
