The idea that having a kid makes you a mother or father on its own is a disgrace to good parents everywhere.... Supporting, caring for and nurturing your child is what makes you a parent.

Having a kid does make you a parent, though - it's the literal dictionary definition. Supporting, caring for and nurturing your child is what makes you a good parent...

People that have, or have had, living offspring are by definition a mother or a father.

Everything you just listed is the type of relationship you should have with your parents. It is absolutely not the kind of relationship you should have with a partner. That is not what love between two healthy, well adjusted adults looks like..

Gonna disagree about "scared to lose" - if any relationship based (or have it as its basis) on being scared of something - they are doomed. Healthy relationship is not about looking at eachother, its about looking in same direction
