We often don’t notice the change

That happens each day in our range

But when we look back

We see a new track

That shows how our lives can rearrange

I asked ChatGPT to “Give me a limerick that talks about nothing changes from day to day but when you look back everything is different in the style of C.S. Lewis”

Well they move the same speed as the thing projecting it

Not true, a shadow from a tower is still going to move but that tower is never moving an inch

Similar to this, we don’t notice how we age physically until we see an old photo of ourselves. I just saw a picture of me from 4 years ago and couldn’t believe how different I look now. How much I have “aged.”

Now this does not necessarily mean things get better and better.

I was actually just thinking that. C.S. Lewis lived in the English countryside through WWII. He wrote about Narnia to give hope of a magical world to kids that had to flee London to avoid getting bombed.

At the same time, he also lived after the war, and watched the country get rebuilt, saw things get better and saw people gain hope again. I like to think this is the change he was referring to.

Seems more depressing than motivating, but I guess that is a matter of one’s perspective. I read that as nothing exciting happens but slowly evolves, whether positively or negatively.

Not really. If I look back 5 years, nothing has changed.
