Only if your speed is positive!
DetectiveFinch t1_jb0xbkl wrote
That part is covered by the direction. If your speed is negative, your going into the opposite direction.
Mikedzines t1_jb0xsdg wrote
In terms of direction, how often would you all say it’s important to recalibrate direction?
Ie. stay the course or check in?

Um, ackshually that would be velocity. Speed is scalar and has no direction.

Thanks for pointing this out, English is not my native language and I wasn't aware of that difference.

I would say you want to keep heading in the same general direction. You should be as agile as you can on how you get there. Further the goal, the least likely it is going to work out how you originally imagined.
You don't want to be completely changing directions all the time. Then you're not going anywhere. Slight adjustments and adapting to situations but keep pushing towards the general direction.

Velocity is a vector

Especially because if you are going full speed on the wrong direction you are gonna get fucked faster!
The-Insomniac t1_jb1thit wrote
This is why we have "Velocity" to combine both into a more meaningful measurement.
TheBlacktom t1_jb1tyam wrote
Stupid language thing to be honest. Speed is everyday use, velocity is physics student use. Speed is the length of the velocity vector.

Why do people join the GetMotivated subreddit but then mock every single post? I have yet to see one where comments are actually positive.

That depends on what I’m accelerating and how fast I’m making it go.
If I push a piece of rebar to relativistic speeds, it won’t really matter which direction I point it.

>Actually "your" is correct in this instance. "You're" is the contraction of you are. Your is a possessive pronoun.
>The possession in this case is one's speed
Nether of which make "your going in the opposite direction" correct
