Maybe instead they should delve into ideas of how to save this planet here...

If the planet gets worse knowing how to survive a hostel environment is very useful tho.

You kinda miss the point..

I don't think they missed the point. Science already pushes info to the masses and it regularly gets rejected. Why would NASA spend money to do something that was already done? That's a political problem right now, not science

Yea but at the same time, if politicians won’t act to save the planet, it’s up to science. You don’t move to a new house because your trash can is overflowing, you figure out a way to get rid of it.

You speak as if science isn't constantly doing its job. There are plenty of people out there trying to save the planet, The problem is the people who are actively destroying it

I think we’re essentially making the same point.

We are except I don't think progress should be stopped in lieu of trying to manage mass stupidity and political greed

Right, that’s what I said. I’m saying science must continue to progress and find new technologies and solutions to fight climate change, regardless of what politicians and the general public think or do.

Dude, how can science do its job if most politicians are idiotic science denying ideologues who are bent on increasing profits for their cabinet. This is a political problem not science

I think we’re actually on the same page and I may have misunderstood what you were saying. It came across like you think scientists should just give up because of politicians’ inaction, or in many cases actively sabotaging, towards solving climate change, but I realize now that it’s not what you meant.

I get the point but with the constant news articles about how bad it is and will get its not bad to have a plan b. When they do this kind of research they might also find something great to help us combat the problems we have here and now. Some of humanity's greatest finds have had nothing to do with the endgoal scientists/researchers were working towards at the time. More knowledge won't hurt us.

Oh shut up, Nasa developed technologies have proven invaluable to improving life on Earth. You should be thanking Nasa and the good work they do. A lot of the data and technology we use to reduce our environmental impact is a result of Nasa.
