With or without AI, this is already happening. There is too much information for you and me to read so most people will take what the media gives. If you don't want that to happen, you need to go out of your way and find different source, compare it, judge it. But then you probably will still miss some.

In some sense, chatgpt is just a glorified Google. Instead of providing links to your query, it provides summary from multiple source.
