Hmm... I think maybe the technology can be built, but I think the issue in the future will be "who" can access to the technology. Maybe on;y a "certified" creative person will be given this piece of technology to produce movies for the mass everyday. (Again, this is just hypothetical issue).
I hardly believe that's gonna be possible. Back in the days becoming someone in the industry demanded a lot of hardwork and luck. Touching a camera wasn't an easy thing. Today anyone with an iPhone can create a short film or movie. So its impossible to keep the technology reserved for certain people.
Mods, didn’t you say you were cracking down on these low effort discussion posts?
I can't understand what's low effort in this. This is a thread to discuss how ai could potentially change the way we look at movies for ever.
No, you will just input what you like to see in Netflix and it will generate a 10 episodes TV series with 6 seasons for you
That's gonna happen. But not anytime soon. Maybe by 2050?. Also how will they make sure we will like it?
Reinforcement: If you keep watching it, it means it's good. If you ask for a new one, it means it's bad. The algorithm will become smarter each time
I don't think we need to wait for 2050. Considering the current status of AI generation, and the quality of what is produced by humans for Netflix, I would assume that we are just a couple of years away from the first examples
Ya you are right. But considering the complexity of a film, it would take a long time for an ai to nail it at the first attempt. Also giving complete autonomy will make it tasteless and heavily inspired. People should be the ones still feeding the story. Ai can only cook up stuff with patterns generated and existing data which works wonders in other areas. But for a field which demands creativity. I don't think so.
It’s low effort, but it is also regarding Futurology.
AI already generates the scripts for many popular shows. Video Generation is not there yet, but it will not be a big deal to combine everything and make it good. The only bottleneck is computing power and cost. I think 5-10 years max.
Even if it takes 10 days to render the final product after 10 years of advancement. I am happy. I mean its a f**king movie, which takes shit load of money and time currently to make and distribute.
No, anyone with an iPhone can make mediocre content. To make content that has any amount of depth more than a cheap "interesting shot", there really needs to be plenty of hard work regardless of what media and tools you have at your disposal. Talent is not same as tools. And noone is "born" talented. Even geniuses who contributed to the field at young age will have had lot of exposure to it which noone else gets.

It will be cool to have a platform like tiktok which suggests trailers of different movies to users. As only the decent ones will go viral, it will be easy for the audience to choose a movie to watch. Else having such a huge option will become overwhelming for the audience. Also if 100k movies are made 90k would be just trash. So platforms like that will help to filter out those.
