I worked at AMD around the 2005 timeframe making flash memory. We were at 65nm critical dimensions and my boss was wondering how we’d ever get smaller. He knew we would, but his point was that it was like a cross between a magic show and the sun rising: it’s going to happen, but nobody knows how. That was nearly 20 years ago, and we are still adhering to Moore’s Law.
