How about we just invest more into mental health funding?? I bet that would reduce suicide too!

Obviously! But there's a labour shortage. You can't just throw money at stuff. (And I hate having to be an old man to realise this.)

Maybe AI dudes can help us by taking on some of the time-consuming and least requiring-of-a-person duties.

Hi r/Futurology, cheers for having us!

New research from UNSW PhD candidate, Karen Kusuma has explored machine learning models and their ability to predict future suicidal behaviours and thoughts.

Published in the Journal of Psychiatric Research, Kusuma's research found machine learning models outperformed traditional risk prediction models in predicting suicide-related outcomes, which have traditionally performed poorly.

Here's a link to the published research if you're keen to read the full findings: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0022395622005416

Shit where I live we have the best suicide prevention you could ask for. Someone calls the cops, they come out and kill you, that’s it….You can’t kill yourself, they will kill you first. And they’re fucking good at it.

What happens ehen the AI finds out were all at least alittle suicidal? Will we still ignore mental health, or will opiums be automaticallly delivered to my door?
