"AI will direct a vast portion of the population into a sort of conveyor belt humans, same ideas, same words, same goals, and so on."
Pretty much where we already are as a society
On the other side of the coin, if AI creates an utopia, with so much free time we may see more humans develop a unique personality.
You bring up valid concerns, but I believe we can do more than simply banning AI for non-researchers and the military. We need to generate numerous ideas to address these issues, discuss them, and promote the best solutions using all available resources.
People in general are loyal to whoever pays them. Or better, whoever provides resources to them.
Therefore, people are loyal to the capitalist system for they get paid. They can sell their time in exchange for things that they like.
You can see it this way, 5% unemployed are "scumbags" in the eyes of "honorable" people. 20% unemployed would be an army hunting for resources.
UBI would ne necessary to stop the poor from attacking the rich, not out of kindness, but out of necessity.
Humans, after all, when all ks said and done, sre animals. And the name of the game is survival.

As these tools make themselves more present in the everyday life of people we will see a rise in a sort of intellectual atrophy. AI would do the thinking for most people, AI will take the decision for most people, AI will direct a vast portion of the population into a sort of conveyor belt humans, same ideas, same words, same goals, and so on.

this wildly overestimates how much "thinking" the average person does today. Most people, yourself included, are so on autopilot we barely take in any new information. This is not a concern. Why would people lose their curiosity anymore so than they already have?
