Definitely an interesting part of Italy. French is widely spoken by the natives. The Montblanc tunnel goes from here to Switzerland. The Swiss on the other side speak Italian! Some of the best skiing in Italy is in this area.

Its an awesome part of the world! But the Mt. Blanc Tunnel connects France to the Aosta Valley. The Valley and Switzerland are connected over the Grand St. Bernard Pass.

Isn’t this the Aosta Valley? That is what the title says.

Yes, in your comment you said the Mont Blanc tunnel goes from the Aosta Valley to Switzerland. But the tunnel goes from the Aosta Valley to Chamonix in France.

They can speak a bit of french but it is not widely spoken as a first language.

Correct. The local language is Arpitan, or more specifically, the Valdôtain dialect. Although, today, the majority speak Italian as their mother tongue.
