Monkey brain sees big rock, monkey brain climbs up big rock, simple as that.

Fair enough. I concede.
Side note: I went to Tuscan and the desert beyond about a year ago for the first time. I have to say - the Suguaro desert was probably the most amazing and terrifying I have seen (compared to Joshua Tree, and those in Utah and Nevada). It was alien and fascinating and pretty great.
Also - highly recommend the Sonora Desert Museum.

I agree, the Saguaro was amazing- it was so much more lush than I imagined, especially having been to the Joshua Tree park last summer. I haven't had the chance to visit the parks in Utah or Nevada yet, unfortunately, but they are on my bucket list for sure! I'd love to see Arches and Death Valley, among others.

Oh! Well definitely go to Bryce Canon if in Utah! Really beautiful….but in a different way. I would say that Saguaro is actually my favorite desert of all I have seen in the states…the cactus variety…the landscape, the sunsets, the creatures…I am from the PNW and never has any place felt so unearthly and strange as Saguaro/Sonora.

I'll definitely add that to the list! I'm from the Southeast so the desert landscape is definitely very different from back at home, it does feel like a whole new world.
