Archive is really fascinating to me

It's got tons of TV shows, books, movies, games, and so much more for download with almost no ads. I have no idea how they fund the cost

Agree. Internet Achieve is amazing. That and the Way Back Machine. Its so cool seeing how some of the biggest sites on the internet looked back in the day

I partly just wanted to see if something hosted not on YouTube (but on an instance of the open-source alternative, Peertube) would work as a submission on this sub. I'm disappointed that Reddit doesn't seem to be able to play it without following the link to its own page.

I'm also excited to see that a bunch of people liked the video, which I also enjoyed. I love both The Internet Archive and the fediverse for making things more easily accessible and less easy to manipulate or exploit.

And the single largest collection of live music anywhere, especially Grateful Dead recordings. Obscure stuff too

My pleasure! I'm still getting used to how best to browse it. It looks like you can do searches of all of peertube on this site: https://joinpeertube.org/browse-content

But in order to actually browse content, you usually need to go to a particular instance like https://the.jokertv.eu/ or also there's a list of instances here: https://instances.joinpeertube.org/instances?sort=-totalVideos

It does sort-of feel like you have to look around or get lucky to find good instances, like trying to find good subreddits without the benefit of r/all. The fediverse is growing with Mastodon now though, so hopefully there will be more development on PeerTube soon.

Wait a second, friend...there is something you should know about the Way Back Machine. It isn't an unbiased repository of information. They arbitrarily scrub the archives of inconvenient truths from time to time. They recently scrubbed the internet of the past tweets of a notorious doxxer who harasses women and private citizens for tweeting politics she doesn't like under the guise of "journalism".

The article you linked doesn't even support your comment. It says she requested to have her twitter page removed from the Wayback Machine and they honored the request. You can do that. You can request they remove your data and they will do it. It isn't arbitrary, it was requested and honored. This is how they operate their service. You aren't even reading between the lines, you are telling a story that only exists when you blur all the old lines and insert new ones in between.

Also, personal thing, but fuck off with calling strangers on the internet "friend" in an effort to ingratiate yourself with them so they believe your misleading summary of the events surrounding a single Fox News article.

You should have read the whole article because they said they reached out to The Wayback Machine on their policy on honoring requests and denying request, and they refused to produce a policy. Sometimes the request is denied and sometimes approved. You've got to read the whole article.

I say one of our greatest enemies because I think we can all agree our main enemy as a society today, aside from the regressive left as I like to call them, is short men, mostly short white men. They cause so many problems in every facet of day-to-day life for us "regulars" that I can't believe we still keep them around. They usually smell bad and just kind of give me the chills to look at. Sometimes I pass by a short man on the street and I just can't help but feel a need to build a big wall and put all of those little freaks on the other side of it.
