Not in north america, can you put that on the outside of the window?

They go on the inside. Blocks all the light and keeps a good amount of heat out as well. For outside the window you can do a sun screen. Essentially blocks all sun from hitting the window and blocks a ton of the heat

I knew someone in mining and we put up foil with vinegar to make it stick, but it's not really practical for that desk being in the way... we put up one of the foils on the outside and that still seems to be mostly intact. We have something locally available called contact paper which seems very much like what you're talking about, at least from what I saw on amazon.
