also i admire your decision to remove the boobs. i have two in my apt and i would replace them if i wasn't renting

No worries, sometimes easier to take a step back and think of what else it is similar to, not different to.

But also, way way better to ask before guessing on wiring haha

The only issue is that the new one is going to be dimmer (unless you've got two really low wattage bulbs in the current fixture.) You might not notice it though.
