Probably just wouldn't seem as secure with the triangle hooks that are there for mounting. The back does say only to use with provided hooks, but it's a hand me down, they didn't come with it. Weird you think drywall anchors that come with a hook would be more common.

There are hooks you could screw into an anchor.

also I think the hooks are sold separate from the anchors

It says do not use wire on the back. But hmm okay I was at Walmart and didn't see any. Maybe I'll check Hone Depot or Amazon.
