Decora style. Also run coax and ethernet to each room from a single location while you have the opportunity. Multiple if the room is able to be set up multiple ways. Outlets should be every 12' along the walls. I also like to add half switched outlets even if you go permanently installed overhead lights and a fan. While you are at it, interconnected 120v smoke detectors (assuming you are in USA) run them off a circuit connected to often used lighting.

You can split wire an outlet. There are metal tabs you break off. Take a circuit to a switch. Tap the circuit with one constant hot(black) and one thru the switch (red). Run 3wire to your outlets. Wire half the outlet to the red and half to the black. Youll then have outlets that are "split wired" and half will be switched and the other half constant.

Dimming switches are a good one always, USB receptacles placed in bedrooms and on counters, fan timer switches for bathroom fans, occupancy sensors for different rooms, caseta and pico brand switches for wireless lighting controls, always rough in for TV and data receptacles, soffit receptacles for Christmas lights, switched outdoor lighting receptacles.

Most importantly, a receptacle that is designated for electric vehicle charging. Some places actually require this by code.

Woah, pump there breaks there. If you plan on selling after the reno or even shorty afterwards, do not go nuts with the smart devices. You could spend thousands of dollars that you probably won't get back and depending on who buys it, probably won't use most of it.

I would limit myself to USB receptacles in bedrooms and kitchens, maybe hard wire security cameras. Beyond that, understand that you are doing it for yourself and probably won't get your money back out of it.

Right on, good advice. dimmers and USB outlets vs switches and standard receptacles are like 30-40x more expensive. You are talking thousand plus for whole house.

Don’t know anybody who said they paid more for a house based on this.
