If you’re able, remove the wheels (they may slide out with some force). Place the metal surface on something solid and pound the bent area flat with a mallet and masonry chisel.

I should have mentioned that -- I tried hammering out the wheels but neither would budge. But your idea might still work, thank you.

I use a steel plate about 1/2 inch thick and about 12 in. by 12 in to protect my floor.
