Can you add texture to a painted wall?

Think I’ve put too much paint on the wall and the texture is really smooth in some places, the contrast looks weird. Is there a way to re-texture the paint? Like some kind of brush? Or shall I just paint over it again to get that orange peel text you back? I had a look online but it suggests that may be an issue with the roller I used, but that doesn’t make sense to me as the problem only occurs in certain places. I’m running out of paint and can’t really afford to get another tub.

they make a spray bottle for orange peal texture. I guess it depends how good you are at applying it to match the current texture. Its a bit of an art.

You might have used too large of a nap on the roller so it applied too much paint.

What is a nap? But I think you are right with too much paint on the roller. Does that mean I could just achieve the correct texture by putting new paint over the top?

If it is anything but flat paint(has any sheen)you will need to prime it before new texture, then you will need to reprime/paint.

If you can’t add texture on top of paint, don’t tell my walls. We did and they’re fine. I don’t want the walls knowing you’re not supposed to and getting uppity several years after the fact. /s (but serious)
