Not sure if I need to do anything special. Was planning on cutting around the crack with an exacto knife, pry up the cracked pit, sand the edges of the paints down flush, and then repaint with as cose a white as I can get.

The paint blistering on your wall indicates that you have a moisture problem in that room. I would try to define this issue first.
