i bought this logitech combo touch for ipad for a really really cheap price because it has stretches on the edges around the speaker grilles. Im looking for a way to shrink it back or at least lessen it.

Many companies use more than one OEM. That means Original Equipment Manufacturer, and "original" unfortunately means they're not all the same. Hence some variability in construction etc. quality.
Logitech is their own OEM.
Even more appropriate - they're also many others' OEM.

Nah there really isn’t much of anything as far as nicer mice than the MX Masters.
There are mice for different applications that are nicer for that, but for creative professionals and general office work the MX Master reigns supreme.

Right, there are mice purpose built for gaming that outperform the MX Master series if you’re gaming.
Those mice generally are lacking though in features that creative professionals use.

QC is a bit down but they have good enough customer service to make up for it. Scroll wheel on my new mouse (g903) started acting strange and they shipped me a new one just via the chatbot in like two days.
yea logitech is hit or miss now. not sure what if any, parts are being outsourced to crummy manufactures. but I still use some of their stuff and it works well. so of it however, is absolute crap.
The blue education edition wasn't much better.

i went with the nuclear option and nuked the stretched rubbers. since the case itself is discontinuous for the pencil and touchid i cleanly cut the stretched parts and removed it, having another gap won't be such an eyesore. Ill just live with the gap. Thanks for the suggestion guys

I didn't come here to be attacked.
Maybe your coworkers make good money and would rather spend a couple minutes ordering a new one than spending 30 mins of their valuable time working on a problem that they might not be able to fix successfully.
Thats why I offer up my own time, its worth nothing.

Yeah this chain needs to learn that the opportunity cost is the value or benefit given up by engaging in that activity, relative to engaging in an alternative activity.
When the alternative activity is YouTube, the choice to help a coworker probably produces more utility overall
Unless you’re a volunteer IT guy lol your time is worth something to whoever hired you and therefore it should be worth something to you too. For any “fix it or trash it” decision i just take my hourly pay and determine what costs more, my time to fix, or a new item. This goes for personal life as well, gotta value your time bro.

Your hourly pay is only worth that when you can be available in large blocks of time (9-5), for large blocks of days (M-F), over a consistent period of time. The ten minutes you saved because you decided not to take your nightly dump isn't worth anything close to your hourly pay.
Well yeah your time would only be worth something in this example if you had a full time job, or at least some kind of stable income otherwise the decision would always be to fix it because you’re not making anything per hour and don’t have the money to replace. Also, this example is for decisions regarding fixing something or buying it, and you equate it to choosing to take a dump or not? Not sure what your point was at all. Ill be invoicing you for $7 for me having to waste the time reading and responding. You have to be able to value your time and i find using hourly pay is a good start to feeling like your time is worth something because someone decided you were worth that even if you don’t think it.
I 100% agree with you. In this instance, those keyboards can go for a fair chunk of change, for some reason. We will say 50 bucks conservatively and without looking up the actual price. If I am paid 34 to 36 per hour that means I would have only cost the employer about 17 to 18 bucks instead of purchasing the 50 dollar keyboard. We cant forget the cost savings on my own sanity by repairing something satisfactorily instead of placing an order for something that is produced in a certain foreign factory that has been shut down for months by the regime because someone got covid there. Forget the supply chain, labour, and import issues, this 50 dollar keyboard is going to take 3 weeks to show up and that's 3 weeks of Carol in HR moaning to me about how long its taking and how much it sucks to type on a screen like every other poor schlub without an IT budget to abuse. By my count I saved the company money, I actually earned my paycheck (for about 30 minutes), and I only had to listen about Carol's upcoming bunyan surgery for 5 minutes when I dropped off her perfectly functioning, albeit MacGyvered, ipad case and keyboard.

I would use Gorilla Glue's hot glue. I've used it for some stuff and it holds good so far
if you can get some (it's cheap) e6000 will hold like crazy and have a bit of flex to it.

Boil some water, either pour-over or dunk the case into boiling water for 15-20 seconds, then pour-over/dunk in ice water. The silicon should contract.
Silicone won't be affected by boiling water temperatures. Many thermoplastics (such as TPU) are, but silicone isn't a thermoplastic.

Just dunk it in ice water and start talking about its grandma. Then it should contract.
I make custom medical training models out of silicone rubbers and I can gaurentee you that it's dimensionally stable once cured. Like will tear before it will plastically deform. If you've ever experienced that with a "silicone" it was probably some silicone/thermopolymer blend.

If the efforts to shrink it don’t work, I’d probably just cleanly trim those bits off and live with the small gaps around the edges. I don’t think it would look bad given the border is already discontinuous.
Have you thought to reach out to Logitech? They may cover it under warranty? Checked on Logitech's website and they have a 1 year hardware warranty on it.
It’s my first thought, they aren’t the only ones, may be a manufacturer defect and it’s not like no one is complaining directly to them if they didn’t get some kind of warranty or had time to return to the place of purchase.

Cut a piece of the rubber out and super glue it. Just a small dot of glue.
E6000 craft glue. Use painters tape to hold it in place.

My guy just use a heat gun but don’t get too close and only leave it on there until it’s hot enough to flex then use a utensil to push it back down where you need it then let cool

Might be able to hit the areas with a hair dryer or heat gun until they are pliable, and re-shape them. With enough heat, they might shrinky-dink on their own (block the speaker ports with tape or foil).
