Hi all. This is my first time posting so I apologize if there is any formatting issues. I’m currently in school for dental assisting, and starting my externships soon. Can anyone tell me if dental assistants often get drug tested in CT? I have been a marijuana smoker for years. I don’t drink or consume any other drugs. I stopped smoking around a month ago just in case, but I’m worried it’s still in my system. I’m thinking about buying a detox drink or something equivalent just to be sure. If anyone can shed some light on the pre-employment process in CT, i’d greatly appreciate it.

I’ve been an assistant for 30 years and no one has ever drug tested me. In fact, when I cried at work once because my son smoked pot (I used to be a prude) the doctor laughed at me.

If you stopped a month ago, you should be perfectly fine. Don't worry about it beyond that.

Thank you for your response! I was a pretty heavy smoker, and i’ve been told it could take up to 60-90 days for it to be completely out of my system so i’ve been worried!

Almost no one does hair follicle tests and for urine tests, the chances for a positive after a month are very very low. After like 7-10 days, most people have a better than 50-50 chance of passing.

Even my large healthcare company announced they are no longer testing for marijuana.

No point in testing for anything if you're not testing for past alcohol use.
