I have a UK licence and have recently moved to CT. My licence is valid here for between 3 and 12 months depending on the website I visit so I’m trying to get a CT licence. I’ve completed the 8 hour classroom training course with mostly 16 year olds 😆 and have booked my “on the road test”. However the confirmation says “Please arrive at the testing location on the scheduled date and time accompanied by a licensed driver.”

Does anyone know if this is waived for foreign drivers? Or if they actually check… would I be able to bring my husband who has a British licence or does it need to be an American one I don’t know anyone local well enough to accompany me to my driving test…

I’ve emailed the DMV but got a “within 7 working days” response which would be just before my test, and I’m fully expecting a “that’s what it says so you have to do that” response.

If your license covers you driving here, then You are a licensed driver. That requirement is for an unlicensed person.

Nope, you’re fine. You can show up by yourself. They only check if you’re under 18 and your training needs to be signed off for. Everyone else, there’s no check who accompanied you to the test.

As long as your temporary license is still valid. Make sure you have insurance for the state the car is registered in.

And we drive on the right.

You’re good, I was in a similar position. They didn’t ask or check.
