It's amazing how many posts in this sub are trolls with throwaway accounts.

I drive a Subaru. Is it possible I am NOT a shit driver?

No

If you disagree, I hereby challenge you to a road course in the Walmart parking lot of your choosing. I'll bring the orange cones. I'll record it for posterity and also for Reddit to help further my theory.

Funny I’ve had similar sentiments towards people with giant pickups. It’s always some dude who looks like a thumb driving like he’s on his way to save the world. Usually sporting a no step on snake sticker.

Your husband must drive a Subaru also.

Nope. But I guess I found the giant pickup driver.

uuuge OP t1_j6a6iqq wrote

Nope, just a regular sized truck. Why does it have to be a "giant pickup"? Sounds like pickup envy..

Also I guess I found one of the Subaru drivers that likes to tailgate me. You must enjoy the view of my a**hole? Not sure why else you'd be so close you could potentially underhand an empty water bottle into the bed of my truck from your Subaru behind me. But a fair and general warning, I'm getting better at accepting that brake checking has become a part of my life and who I am. It just is and I'm okay with it and sleep well at night. Also I'm getting quicker with my timing with more and more practice out in the streets. I'm hoping one day to eventually be able to make contact with you. 🤗

So, like I said, not a Subaru driver, but that’s one hell of fantasy you have going on there. Have a lovely day and don’t forget to fuck off into the sun.

I have never seen an Infiniti drive normally. Always aggressively speeding, weaving, and tail-gating.

No, I don't think Subaru drivers are systematically worse, although given it's a brand known for safety there might be more defensive drivers behind the wheel which might seem worse to some people.

Also, "subris" (Subaru hubris) is real, but I think it applies to anyone with their first 4/AWD car - people think the increased traction that helps you go will also help you stop, but it doesn't!

At road speeds, this is unimportant though. And on highways, there aren't hairpin turns lol

Alternative-Lion1336 t1_j69ogu3 wrote

Oh no. Even in snow- especially in snow, ironically. The actually handle better if you have too much wheel in and your foot in the gas and intentionally wash it out a bit.

But yes. That generally implies extralegal speed, but the physics don’t care about Jonny law (they have their own)

uuuge OP t1_j6941xc wrote

I find that they generally tend to tailgate so close that I can no longer see the headlights of their car and sometimes the driver even disappears from view. I always drive the speed limit or 5 to 10 mph faster, but it's like they're playing a game and actually seeing how close they can get to my vehicle.

It's never not a Subaru doing this.

smkmn13 t1_j694q8o wrote

Seriously? Maybe that's true for WRX drivers, but I feel like the stereotypical Subaru driver is a grandparent with base-model Forester driving 5 miles below the speed limit.

Literally never had a bad experience with another Subaru driver on the road. You can say this about any car brand and people will flock to the comments to staunchly agree and vehemently disagree with you

This is what you wrote, lie detector test determined that is a lie.

AConnecticutMan t1_j69fdbb wrote

I also said people will believe there are good and bad drivers for every car brand. I've seen WRX drivers speeding, but I've also seen every other brand of car also speeding in the past, as well as not using blinkers all the time, rolling through stop signs, etc. When someone says "bad drivers" I discount all the petty stuff because you go to the side of any highway, park near any intersection, you're gonna see every car brand doing stupid stuff because every brand has people like that. Certain brands attract people who behave a certain way, that's just a fact, but I don't understand why you and most of the other people in the comments have so much hatred for Subaru in particular

I've generally found them to be pretty high up in the Subaru category. I think most of my daily chaos is inflicted by Outback and Forester drivers, also those smaller hatchback ones everywhere in the bright colors like florescent orange and electric blue.

uuuge OP t1_j67yyrs wrote

Perfect example of how oblivious Subaru drivers are. Someone stating they have literally never had a bad driving experience with specifically Subaru drivers. Just think about that for a moment.

GOT THIS

So we moved to CT from New York four or fives years ago. I had a Camry, only 100k miles on it, I could have beat that shit for 200k more EASY. Anyway, less than a week in to the new house, I go to drive to work and my car skids off the road literally four houses down the road from my driveway. Done. Subaru

1

uuuge OP t1_j6f9jr9 wrote

Usually a car doesn't just randomly skid off the road. It's not sentient. Most vehicles require driver input to control the speed, direction of travel, and reactions to road conditions. Did the Camry still have the original tires with 100k on them?
