Not everywhere has alternatives. I found one but the rates are not locked even though you have to sign a contract for like 2 or 3 years.

IANAL, but I'm like 99% sure that's untrue. Electricity companies are not like ISPs.

Contracts in CT are worthless. One of the few good laws this state has makes it illegal for a company to impose termination fees/penalties for ending a contract early. Accordingly, a contract that locks in a rate can literally only help the consumer in this state. Rate goes down? End your contract. Rate goes up? You're contract protects you.
