We do have electric heat, however it’s been warmer this winter so the heat is on around 65.

Electric heat will do that, I’ve got oil heat. 65 is tropical would cost me a fortune too.
I’m at 55 and just wear a hoodie inside.

It’s due to electric heat. Lower your temp and wear more clothing.

Only put it on in rooms you are occupying, don’t leave it on all day unless the temperature is really really cold .
Unplug appliances they draw electricity as well
If you have your own washer / dryer do laundry at night
I live in an old building everything is electric it sucks wish I never moved here . Summer it’s the AC , winter it’s the heat there’s maybe a month or two that my bill isn’t insane and I have UI

Electric heat, specially if you have the old mechanical thermostats instead of the digital ones, suck a lot of power.
