my roommate and I loved the calamari at J Timothy's (in addition to the wings of course) and we were saddened to know they took it off the menu.
Please share your calamari recs!

Mill on the river in South Windsor
It’s all pig anus anyways.
Friends Cafe in downtown Southington
Wood n’ Tap (Southington) is decent. Haven’t been to Zingarella’s in years but it was pretty good there too. Joey Garlic’s is also not bad if you’re in the area.
Well that's disturbing...
Max a Mia in Avon
Somewhat. I mean, if it has the same texture and taste, then who cares?
I definitely do...
Weird admission but I’ll allow it.
Sakura
Went to lunch with friends on Friday. Riptide on the west haven/milford line has great calamari! I was very pleasantly surprised!
They did have really good calamari!
Rosy Tomorrow’s in Danbury have Buffalo chicken calamari. It comes topped with tomato, celery, hot sauce, and blue cheese crumble.
Mykonos on the Berlin Turnpike. Crispy but also melts in your mouth.
What about the tentacle parts?
Pig pubes?
Remos, capital grill
The tentacle parts are still squid. Pig anus can be substituted for the rings legally without an issue.
Honestly you don't want calamari that's not fresh. Perhaps they couldn't source enough good quality stuff and that's why it's gone. I'd rather see it off the menu than get something that's been caught who-knows-where, frozen, shipped, sat around, etc.
I'm always reminded of this story when I hear people express their love for calamari - https://www.thisamericanlife.org/484/doppelgangers
Just in case anyone is worried, this is an urban legend. And also obviously illegal to sell pig anus as calamari despite the claim below.
This is not an urban legend - it is 100% factual just like everything on the internet.
Sounds like facts to me!
Lido's in Meriden. Get the NY style.
Sakura Garden, Glastonbury. Not rubbery at all, which I can’t stand.
Any decent Thai or Italian place can make it.
