Its the first time my fiancée is making a major purchase, and its a necessary car.

730 Credit Score, 6k Down payment

Does anyone have any leads on a trustworthy place to go? or a specific deal, (APR) or even credit unions with good rates or anything?

I had a dream that we made a mistake and got taken advantage of. Ill never hear the end of it.

J&M is honest. No haggle and higher fees than some, but very reputable and they sell good cars. They will take the car you like to YOUR mechanic to be vetted for no charge.

AAA for finding the best rate.

What kind of cars does she like? Personally I'm partial to Hondas.

Join a credit union for the best loan rates.

Compare similar cars on apps like iseecars, CarGurus, CARFAX, etc and you’ll know how much to pay.

Way too broad of a question.

How about to start what kind of vehicle are you looking to get?

Max price

If used, what mileage. If used are you going for Certified Pre Owned?

It might be better to go new

New Honda or Toyota, maybe Mazda. No Add-ons, no extended warranty, no paint protection. Manufacturer financing offer. She should ask the dealership only to send her credit application to the manufacturer, not third party banks.

Don’t pay above MSRP for the car. No need to deal with repairs and maintenance on a used car with credit and down payment like you mention.

Not sure where you are but I've had great experiences with canton auto exchange. They were able to tack on a certified warranty on my car so the interest rate was cut in half with the credit union

My most recent loan is from 2018.

1.99% from First Connecticut CU. At the time their website was offering closer to 3%, so AAA must have enough buying power to negotiate rates we can’t get on our own.

Yeah, good days… I feel for you guys having to borrow right now!

Best of luck to your fiancée finding a car! Whatever you do, please do not go to Gengras Dodge Jeep Ram in East Hartford. I got my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee there back in 2020 and it was a complete nightmare!
