I just paid to renew my license. Apparently, the DMV "success team" now has it and I will be charged in 5-10 business days, as opposed to the 7 minute time it gives on the website. From there it will take up to 20 business days meaning my new license won't arrive till the second week of February. I really hate how much our DMV sucks. I require a current license for work, so now it looks like I won't be able to do Uber, Lyft, or Grubhub till February. And the messed-up thing is the old license is still valid during the period you're waiting for the new one even if it's expired, but that's from the point they charge you. I'm not sure about the up to 10 business days before they process the payment.

And the gig companies don't accept a receipt or letter from DMV. It has to be the actual license. They don't care what's legal, only what they require. I remember when you used to be able to get same day licenses, but now it seems even if you go in person you can't any more.

Recently helped my wife renew her license online and it could not have been easier. We were charged right away and it was mailed about a week later.

This was earlier this month.

I renewed mine online a couple of months ago. While it did say it could take up to 20 days to arrive, it arrived about a week and a half later. They also processed the payment right away.

Real ID can’t be processed in house and since that’s becoming the federal standard, for good reason, everyone has to have their ID/License mailed to them now. We are new to CT from CO and it was the same there.
